Pittu
is a favorite dish in breakfast as well as eaten dinner in
the South Indian states of
mainly in Kerala, but also in Tamil Nadu and parts of Karnataka, as well as Sri Lanka. Puttu means
"portioned" in Malayalam. It is prepared shredded coconut, rice flour mix
streaming in bamboo cylinder/pittu streamer. Puttu is served hot with sweet
side dishes such as palm sugar or banana, or with curries
such as dal curry, coconut
milk gravy, mutton, fish or chicken.
Ingredients
2 cup of Rice Flour
2 cup of shredded Coconut
1/4 tsp. of Salt
1/2 cup of Water
Method
Add the flour, coconut and salt into the mixing
bowl put water little by little mix all content in a the bowl and roll with the fingers to make very small
balls keep that mixture aside.
Heat a pittu bamboo/pittu streamer. Filling the heated bamboo/streamer
with the mixture and continuously streaming 3-5 mins coming out stream top of
the cylinder. Pittu is ready to eat.
